Are you looking for a way to treat cataracts without surgery? While surgery is the most commonly suggested option, at Dr Basu Eye Care Centre, we offer a proven Ayurvedic approach that helps manage and slow down cataract progression naturally, through cataract treatment without surgery.
The ageing factor invites many diseases in an individual, and one of them is Cataract, which generally starts in the adult population once they are in their 40s. At this age, the proteins in the eye lens can begin to break down and clump together. Due to this, the eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy, leading to blurred vision, and the person has difficulty seeing at night.
Post-COVID, many people have started believing in Ayurveda because they are concerned about side effects, age, or pre-existing health conditions. That’s where our Ayurvedic solutions come in.

Frequently Asked Questions
In Ayurvedic cataract treatment, the primary aim is to restore disrupted body energy, normalize blood flow, and enhance the resilience of ocular nerves and tissues. Dr. Basu recommends specific measures, including refraining from pickles, black coffee, and strong tea, while incorporating cow milk, dairy items, vitamin C-rich fruits like oranges, apples, and pomegranates, and a consistent intake of green leafy vegetables. The regimen also involves the habitual use of fenugreek and sunflower seeds in cooking, quitting smoking, and embracing the regular practice of Padabhyanga (foot oil application).
The eye’s lens primarily comprises water and proteins, with these proteins arranged in a specific manner that maintains lens clarity and permits light transmission for focusing a sharp image onto the retina’s surface. As one ages, a portion of these proteins may aggregate, causing a localized blurring of the lens – a process implicated in age-related cataract formation. Over time, cataracts might intensify, causing the lens to become increasingly clouded, thus impairing vision. It’s important to emphasize that cataracts are not indicative of growths or tumors.
Juvenile cataracts or secondary cataracts can stem from various sources. Secondary cataracts arise from akin protein changes within the lens, which also result in visual blurring/ vision loss. Contributing factors include eye injury, ocular surgery for other conditions, and exposure to ionizing, infrared, or ultraviolet radiation.
- Nuclear cataract, one variety of cataract, develops in the center of the lens and results in a yellow or brown tint to the nucleus.
- Cortical cataract takes on a wedge-like shape and emerges along the periphery of the nucleus.
- The posterior capsule cataract, in comparison, progresses more rapidly than the other two types and affects the rear part of the lens.
- Congenital cataracts, which are either present at birth or arise during an infant’s initial year, are less common than age-related cataracts.
Secondary cataracts result from medical conditions or medications. - Radiation cataracts can develop following radiation therapy for cancer treatment.
The types of Immature Cataracts include nuclear cataracts, cortical cataracts, and subcapsular cataracts. Nuclear cataracts happen in the center of the eye lens and are caused by the breakdown of the lens nucleus. Cortical cataracts occur in the outer layer of the lens and are characterized by the formation of white, wedge-like opacities. Subcapsular cataracts occur at the back side of the lens and are often associated with diabetes or prolonged use of steroids.
